Saying Good-bye to Missy

January 6th, 2011
I feel about my dogs now, and all the dogs I had prior to this, the way I feel about children — they are that important to me. When I have lost a dog I have gone into a mourning period that lasted for months.

Missy

Hello Everyone,

Before I talk about Missy, I would like to thank Ramona Renno at the Country Place Kennel in Mira Loma, CA for taking such wonderful care of Missy.  Ramona is a very good friend, no Ramona is family. She has been caring for Missy and has done a wonderful job. She is one of the nicest people that I have ever known and I could never thank her enough for what she has done for Missy and me. Thank you so much Ramona, I love you.

Yesterday, I received the bad news that my dog, Missy, will not be able to join me in our (my) new home. Missy was almost 12 years old and suffered from arthritis and a few other ailments. She has taken a turn for the worse and I will never see her again. I spent most of the day crying and trying to remember the happy times that I had with her.  I am not so sad because she has to be euthanized, as I realized that she would not live forever. I am sad because I did not get to spend these past few months with her and I did not get to say good-bye. However, I am grateful that she did have Ramona who has loved her as much if not more than I have.

I got Missy from a neighbor when she was only 8 weeks old and I thought I would never be able house break her, but she turned out to be the best dog that anyone could hope for. She really was a wonderful dog and I learned so much from her. She taught me patience, a filled my heart with so much love.  She was truly one of my well loved children.  I do realize that she is going to a much better place, but I miss her so much.

Enjoy these photos of Missy in her better days. I love you Missy and I will miss you.
